Ecotoxicological analysis in surface water

Subproject 15 foresees the carrying out of ecotoxicological tests to verify the acute and chronic toxicity of surface water samples collected along the Paraopeba River Basin. In addition, this subproject aims to evaluate the route of exposure to contaminants and the potability of surface water collected upstream and downstream from the collapse of Dam I of Mina do Córrego Feijão in relation to ecotoxicological tests.

This objective is divided into:

  • Perform acute toxicity tests in relation to the bioluminescence emitted by Allivibrio fischeri and Zebrafish (Danio rerio) for samples collected upstream and downstream from the breaking point of Dam I of the “Córrego Feijão” mine;
  • Perform chronic toxicity tests with Ceriodaphnia spp. and Raphidocelis subcapitata (formerly Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata) for samples collected upstream and downstream from the breakpoint of Dam I of the “Córrego Feijão” mine;
  • Perform acute and chronic toxicity tests on newly hatched Zebrafish larvae (Danio rerio) for samples collected upstream and downstream from the breakpoint of Dam I of the “Córrego Feijão” mine;
  • Carry out mutagenicity and genotoxicity tests for samples collected upstream and downstream from the breaking point of Dam I of the “Córrego Feijão” mine;
  • Prepare technical reports (partial and final) containing the results obtained in the proposed ecotoxicological tests and relate them in an integrated manner with the results obtained for the physicochemical characterization.
