Subproject 05
Collection of Fauna Animals in Forest Areas in the Paraopeba River Basin for Toxicological Analysis
The objective of subproject 05 is to capture amphibians, reptiles, birds, non-flying mammals and bats in forest areas along the Ferro-Carvão Stream and the Paraopeba River basin, for non-lethal collection of biological samples (fur, feathers, feces, urine, blood and serum) which will in the future be subjected to toxicological analysis, through which possible evidence of contamination by metals, metalloids or toxic organic compounds will be identified.
Methodological steps
1st Step: Elaboration of a sampling plan for the fauna of the forests near the Paraopeba River
2nd Step: Obtaining environmental licenses for collection
3rd Step: Opening paths and marking your main points with GPS
4th Step: Arrangement of traps at predetermined points and control of these, as well as active search for animals.
5th Step: Clinical examination of the captured animals.
6th Step: Collection of non-lethal biological samples from animals and their identification.
