1) What is the Brumadinho UFMG Project?
The Brumadinho UFMG Project's main objective is to assist the 2nd Public Finance Court of the District of Belo Horizonte through studies and surveys that allow the identification and evaluation of the impacts resulting from the collapse of Dam I of the Córrego do Feijão Mine.
2) How will the impacts arising from the collapse of Dam I of the Córrego do Feijão Mine be identified and evaluated?
The impacts will be identified through the 67 research subprojects that make up the Brumadinho UFMG Project. The research aims to research and identify different aspects and dimensions of the multiple impacts, losses and damages, material and immaterial, economic, social, cultural and environmental, inflicted on the populations affected by the rupture of the dam in Brumadinho.
3) Who prepares the Subproject Calls?
The Scientific Technical Committee (CTC) aims to prepare public calls for selection of research and extension subprojects, as well as oversee their implementation and execution to achieve general and specific objectives. The activities will be divided as agreed by the CTC and carried out by selecting Subprojects in “Calls”, in order to fulfill the objectives of the Brumadinho UFMG Project.
4) Will my city be part of the research?
The research carried out by the subprojects has as reference area 19 municipalities previously defined by the Court, which extend from Brumadinho to the Retiro Baixo hydroelectric plant dam. The reference region comprises the following selected municipalities: Betim, Brumadinho, Curvelo, Esmeraldas, Forest, Fortuna de Minas, Igarapé, Juatuba, Maravilhas, Mário Campos, Martinho Campos, Parrots, Pará de Minas, Paraopeba, Pequi, Pompéu, São Joaquim from Bicas, São José da Varginha and Sarzedo.
